It’s Blog-Wise Wednesday - the day I link to a guest post that I believe will challenge you in a good way.
We’re growing wise together.
This weeks post is a short little entry by Emily Freeman that asks us to consider the unbelief that can settle in on us. You can find Emily’s writings at her “chatting at the sky” blog, where she shares her faith walk through life with beautiful pictures and compelling prose. Follow her on twitter @ http://twitter.com/emilychats.
In Emily’s own words:
I’m Emily. I am married to The Man, a youth pastor and a grown up. I learn from him on a daily basis because he is wise and handsome and smells good. And wise. We live in the southeast and have three children five and under. We love high school students. And The Office. And mint chocolate chip ice cream. The white kind, not the green.
While chatting at the sky is a place for me to chat about parenting and coffee and photography, I hope for it to also be a place to remember. A place to just be and invite others to be alongside of me. A place that encourages reflection and discovery of meaning in the midst of the mundane.

John and his wife Beverly have been mentors of mine for 25 years. They are the real deal. Their story is one of radical faith, dependence, and openness to God. Their website, http://www.liberatedliving.com is a source of revelation – not information.
Everyone should read “The Birthright”. It will change your life.

Archie Rhines is a friend of mine. This week I’ve chosen a blog entry of his that has me thinking a lot about the nature of God and how He answers our prayers. His blog post, Mysteries of the Faithdiscusses our experience of God as a “just enough” or an “abundant” deliverer. After reading his thoughts, let me know which God you serve.
In Archie’s own words:
I am a believing Husband, Father, CEO, President, Research scientist, Physicist, Entreprenuer, Business owner, Software designer, Webmaster, Professional writer, Blogger, Consultant and Janitor.
It is the desire of my heart that God be Lord of my life. Life’s experiences have killed the old man and God is building a new creation in me. I look forward to experiencing the new man God creates in the old vessel known as Archie via “God Spots”.
As I was praying this morning, the Holy Spirit impressed me to write down the picture He gave me concerning unity in His Church, His Bride. When I saw it, I repented for all the ways I have been a vessel of Satan for dis-unity. Forgive me Father.
Jesus just showed me that every denomination has error in it’s doctrine. Some have more than others, but this is less important than we think. He showed me a globe of the earth. On it, He placed Himself in Jerusalem. He said, “If I position all the factions of my Body on the globe in proximity to Me according to the amount of error they believe, their individual locations would still be very far from Me (The Total Truth). If they could only reach me by their own understanding and power, they would ALL be disheartened and give up no matter where they were positioned, because they would perceive they had too far to go to reach Me ( The Total Truth). But it is by My Spirit that the Father has ordained they shall reach Me. My Spirit does not work as the flesh. Notice in 1Thess 4:14-18 that you shall ALL be changed or raised in an instant – covering the distance from Me (The Total Truth), in the same amount of time, by My Spirit.
Maturing and rightly dividing My Word are important. But only when you realize and embrace how far YOU have to goto be one with Me (The Total Truth), and that it is only by My grace that it will happen, will you be able to put on love (My agape) and be truly united to the rest of my Bride.”
Jesus taught a Kingdom principle in Matthew 10:11-14. This story helps me understand it better.
Mr. Wiseman was well known for his ability to respond to evil with good. There was a man who knew about his reputation and he traveled miles and miles to test Mr. Wiseman. When he arrived he stood before Mr. Wiseman. He verbally abused him constantly, he insulted him, he challenged him, he did everything he could to offend Mr. Wiseman.
Mr. Wiseman was unmoved, and the man was speechless.
Mr. Wiseman simply turned to the man and said, “May I ask you a question?”
The man responded with “Well, what?”
Mr. Wiseman said, “If someone offers you a gift and you decline to accept it to whom then does it belong?”
The man said, “Then it belongs to the person who offered it.”
Mr. Wiseman smiled, “That is correct. So if I decline to accept your abuse does it not then still belong to you?”
I heard Dr. Caroline Leaf speak at my church a couple of years ago. What she said that night has never left me. In the last few days the Holy Spirit has been reminding me of her message, so I thought I’d share a bit of it with you. The video you’ll be watching was filmed at a First Friday event in Southlake, Texas. First Friday is a fantastic monthly event for women in the Dallas-Fort Worth Texas community. Each month, speakers who are experts in their field address how to navigate life in a positive way.
