Blog-Wise Wednesday.5

It’s Blog-Wise Wednesday - the day I link to a guest post that I believe will challenge you in a good way.

We’re growing wise together.

This week check out a post from an author I really like.  Last November I went to hear Donald Miller speak with my friend Holly, a member of our community.   Donald was on a book tour promoting his book, A Million Miles in a Thousand Years: What I Learned While Editing My Life.  His writings challenge me to think and to look at life and God in fresh ways.   Here’s his blog post If it weren’t for God, you’d be more efficient .  Have a read and let us know what you think.

Donald Miller

Donald Miller is recognized for his feelings that Christian faith should be a relationship, rather than a formula. He writes in Searching for God Knows What that too many Christians act like the Bible is a sort of math textbook, rather than a long story of God’s involvement with people through friendships with Biblical figures like Adam, Abraham, and Moses.  Find out more about Donald Miller here.

I love this post and the Donald Miller message. We have to have a more noble goal as we age. We want something and need to want something but let that be noble-to help fatherless sons, give the faceless person a voice, serve in giving your life away for something of value. As for this post of being more efficient if it weren’t for God, How true! As he says, God is always trying to slow us down to notice the deep lessons and significant events along our path-we rush along with our mind going a hundred directions and no wonder we come up empty but check off our list. I think of that scripture Lam. 3:25-26 The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. We can keep running along or learn that in quiet and trust is our strength (and revelation of the important things we are searching for)

God has a thing about people getting rest…it’s important for achievement of God’s purposes on the earth. God rested after the incredible creative achievement of “the creation”. I think He did that because He wanted us to know it was good. I don’t think He was tired. :-)
